I wish to recommend you some so I'll list the most I've watched or heard stuff about.

Animé list
Clannad (After Story)
- Spoiler:
Honestly, one of the most heartwrenching series I've seen -- ever. This series contains of (I think) around 50 episodes with both seasons counted. Second series is a continuation on the first one and both of them are top-notch. The art and animation is really something else compared to most of the animé out there. If you like drama, this is strongly recommended. I also recommend some tissues.
Code Geass
- Spoiler:
TBA
Naruto
- Spoiler:
Of course, can't miss this one. Naruto, your extremely popular anime about fighting the bad guy with your friends. I've only watched the regular series and not Shippūden so I won't be able to tell you anything about that, though I have heard good things about it. Naruto is VERY action-packed and full of excitement. It also contains mild violence and blood, no extreme cases. You'll probably love it.
Suzumiya Haruhi
- Spoiler:
Yeah.. I've also watched this one, so what?! It's about coincidence, a lot of it.. not.. This anime is all about aliens, time travellers and whatnot. It contains mild nudity (walking into changing room by 'accident' 8D) and barely any romance. The main character is a Tsundere* so you won't expect any boy-girl connection. Somehow I enjoyed this series, you should watch it, the art is quite top-notch.
Pokémon
- Spoiler:
There's nothing wrong with this animé, you haters. Anyway, Pokémon.. I'll have to be honest, the first season is epic, you cannot deny. Ash trying to hunt down the famous Mewtwo, yes epic. Sadly, Pokémon went on and made about 30921½ seasons, which weakened the entire series. Currently, there's 493 Pokémon and still more upcoming. If you wish to watch this, you'll need a LOT of patience.. enough patience for about 700 episodes.
Yu-Gi-Oh
- Spoiler:
Yes, Yu-Gi-Oh is quite a good series, it's not so original but somehow it worked out well. I enjoyed the first season a lot but decided not to go on watching for whatever reason. It contains many cliffhangers which just force you to watch on because you can't forgive yourself for not knowing what's going to happen. I liked it.
School Days
- Spoiler:
Extreme graphics warning!
School Days is the psychological animé number one. It contains a lot of interactions within love triangles, hate and destroying someone elses confidence. The ending is extremely shocking, not even spoiling a lot. Somehow eventhough it contains a lot of violence and blood, I enjoyed the series. Please mind that it also contains minor nudity and sex. Watch on own risk? 8D
仮面のメイドガイ (romanised as Kamen no Maid Guy)
- Spoiler:
A recommendation by Gant
This animé is probably the most comical, epic and ecchi one you'll find out there. It has nudity, an awesome main role player and amazing antagonists. A regular girl awaiting her inheritance has to be protected from jealous family members that would like to steal it. Therefore grandpa hires two 'maids'. These two 'maids' will change the life of the girl and her brother for good. Amazing animé, strongly recommended.
One Piece
- Spoiler:
A recommendation by Tatsumaki
One Piece is probably one of the best adventure themed animé you'll find out there. It's about a boy trying to establish a pirate crew to become the Pirate King. The amination is very smooth and the battles are top-notch. There are many, many situations in this animé where it looks hopeless but turns out well in the end, that's where the satisfaction starts. One Piece currently has about 450-odd episodes and is totally worth watching.
Da Capo
- Spoiler:
Da Capo is FULL OF INCEST, an animé where non-bloodrelated siblings somehow end up together and falling in love with eachother. The first two series are full about this incest. The two last series however turned out better. There was no sign of sibling love, just a guy that doesn't know how to handle girls at all. That way, he most likely will hurt all of them in the end.. I watched the two first series with a lot of agony and I never want to do it again, two last series calmed my heart and brought my satisfaction back, however..
Omamori Himari
- Spoiler:
Omamori Himari is about a girl named Himari and a guy named Yūto. Yūto needs to be protected from enemy Ayakashi because he has Demon Hunter blood in him. When he was younger, his grandparents gave him a charm, an Omamori. That charm however, loses its effect when he turns 16. That's when Himari steps in, being his new charm. Hence the title? There is a LOT of ecchi in this anime and nudity, most men will probably like it. 8D
Ouran Koukou Host Club (Ouran High School Host Club)
- Spoiler:
A recommendation by Kathy
Ouran High School Host Club is about a tomboyish girl accedently breaking a vase in the Clubroom of this so called 'Ouran Host Club'. The vase however was worth a few million yen. This way she's indepted to the club and has to work off her payment. She slowly starts feeling more attraction to the club and decides to stay in many situations where she's free to leave. They, however, don't know she's a girl in the beginning.. 8D
A lot of comedy occurs in this anime which makes it relaxing to watch.
ef - A Tale of Two
- Spoiler:
A recommendation by Yuuko
The story of ef revolves around 4 protagonists and 4 heroines, this might get really confusing for most viewers of animé. Once you get the hang of it, it'll become a lot easier to follow, that's when you start understanding the plot. The story is about two identical cities located in Japan and Australia, one main protagonist resides in Japan and the latter one in Australia. The last two will shine in both cities in the second season, jerking the tears out of you.
Fate/Stay Night
- Spoiler:
The animé with the weirdest name ever-- I think.. Anyway, another adventure animé. Minor love development and a lot of bloodshed. However there is no death occuring in the animé. It has a nice soundtrack and nice animations, probably one of the best battles occur in this animé. Though it is really weird how poeple in this anime take about 300 hits from axes, maces and swords and still not die.. Oh well.
Welcome to the NHK
- Spoiler:
A recommendation by Gant
Welcome to the NHK is about a boy named Satou Tatsuhiro living his regular life with a lot of troubles facing him you'd face in your regular life as well. It is a very dark/funny/amusing and psychologic animé that could really turn into chaotic events. Somehow the animé was amusing as well, I guess them events made it all worth watching.
Gurren Lagann
- Spoiler:
For most your life, all you have ever known is disappointment, loneliness and rejection. Digging yourself lower and lower into the earth is your only comfort. If the chance to burst through the ceiling, seize the world above and claim it as your own arrives, will you take it?
神無月の巫女 (romanised as Kannazuki no Miko)
- Spoiler:
Kannazuki no Miko is your basic save the world with giant robots and whatnot animé, though one thing's different.. it contains Yuri*. I didn't like this anime so much, mainly because I'm not a big fan of Yuri but somehow it felt different. I completely adore the soundtrack as I fell in love with the ending song of this particular animé. If you have a strong will, please do watch this series.
灼眼のシャナ (romanised as Shakugan no Shana)
- Spoiler:
Shana is the main character alongside Sakai Yuji in this particular animé. Yuji lives his regular life on daily basis with his usual tasks of going to school, going home, interacting with friends.. untill some weird force field surrounded Yuji and he discovers who he really is. The person that tells him happens to be Shana. That is how the bond forms and they take on challenges, perhaps some romance starts being lit up. Three seasons as of yet, a forth was announced. Not too shabby anime.
Furuba
- Spoiler:
This animé is also known as Fruits Basket
At first glance Furuba is just another Shoujo* manga with nothing different to it; the average, beautiful, kind girl getting all the pretty boys. Okay so it really is that, however there's a special touch to the way the series develops itself and how you watch each character grow and interact with each other as the story progresses. This animé contains traces of drama, comedy and romance with the shoujo in the anime interacting with male harem on regular basis.
Kanokon
- Spoiler:
I'll be honest with you.. You either love or hate Kanokon. You love Kanokon if you love a lot of breasts and nudity and nothing more. You hate it, obviously when you hate them things listed above.. Kanokon is about some boy meeting a very beautiful girl on a bridge later finding out she's his guardian of some sorts. Though she's very perverted at times.. This will cause trouble for the boy, however.
The First Step (Hajime no Ippo)
- Spoiler:
Boxing, yes, who doesn't love it.. actually don't answer this. Hajime no Ippo is an animé with epic fights and a beautiful story. The main character was bullied his entire life, used as some slave and abused for stupid arrands. He however aimed to change himself for good and started spicin' up his boxin' skills. Quite a nice animé eventhough it's quite old, classic.
Vampire Knight
- Spoiler:
A recommendation by Kathy
If you think that shuojo series are all flowery, romantic (comedies) and cheerful, you're quite wrong, and Vampire Knight will prove that more than anything else. Keywords for Vampire Knight are drama, emotional struggles and tragic pasts. Throw in a dash of vampire, and there you have Vampire Knight in all its glory.
Watch on own risk. 8D
DearS
- Spoiler:
A recommendation by Jackie
DearS is a comedy, ecchi, harem romance set in the present day. The protagonist, Ikuhara, finds an alien whom he names Ren. Each episode shows the trials and adventures Ikuhara and Ren find themselves in since they've met: The importance of wearing clothes in public to the understanding of what love is. The fanservice in this animé is really over-the-top that it becomes amusing, I think the makers didn't mean it that way.
Chobits
- Spoiler:
A recommendation by Jackie
Chobits is a stereotypical animé about a guy that lives on the farm, he got rejected for his application to study in Tokyo. However he still decides to move out and live in the modern life. Upon his arrival in Tokyo, he sees a lot of robots walking around, apparently that's the new computer? He's -of course- too poor to buy one. He finds one later on in a pile of trash, she was thrown away. The only word she could say was 'Chii' so he decides to name her that. Of course he finds out later that she's not just an ordinary robot. Another trial and error animé, very amusing.
Zero no Tsukaima
- Spoiler:
The Familiar of Zero, guess who Zero is? Yes, the main character, Louise. She's a magician in another world training to become a sage or whatnot. This however requires her to learn some decent magic, all she can do is blow up stuff. At the time of an examination, every magician has to summon a familiar, she summons a plebian and gets laughed at (again). However, he and Louise start creating a bond, where will this lead to?
I quite enjoyed this animé because it contains plenty of funny scenes.
Air
- Spoiler:
Air.. Air is quite a nicely animated series but the plot is slightly disappointing. It's about a traveller that has some kind of magic he can make dolls and such move. He wishes to become famous and make his money using that technique. He's also looking for a winged woman in the sky, assuming she is the person he kept seeing in his dreams. He lands in a village and starts ruckus there. Half of this series exists of a flashback from around the Edo Period?
Kanon
- Spoiler:
If you happen to know the arrangement by Johan Pachabell with the same name as this series, you might like this animé. Though the disappointment strikes, it's one of them harem animé where the guy gets to do something with one girl, finishes and continues with the next. I guess it doesnt count as harem, then.. Despite all this, it's quite a beautiful series, there's two versions. A previously aired one from 2001 and a 2006 one, they do not follow the exact same plot. I watched the 2006 one.
Toradora!
- Spoiler:
Toradora! is a lot about loving someone, loving the wrong person and lying about the person you love. There are three main characters, the boy, the sweet girl and the Tsundere. Of course, the boy and Tsundere get in wrong tides with eachother but plottwists may occur and something may happen that you didn't see coming at all. I watched this anime and I quite enjoyed it to a degree, recommended.
ブリーチ (romanised as Bleach)
- Spoiler:
Bleach is one of the three so-called "mainstream shonen* animes"; together with Naruto and One Piece these three are immensely popular, and the topic of endless comparison among their fans set out to prove that their favorite is the best out of them. They simply refuse to exit their fanboyism to view the series in an objective light, which is a shame, because they are probably missing out on great adventures, which is the case of Bleach in many ways. Try it out yourself.
Lucky ☆ Star
- Spoiler:
Lucky Star is FULL OF RANDOM EVENTS. That's what makes this animé so fantastic. There's absolutely no plot, everyday's just a new day. It's full of comedy and parody which makes this so great. If you've watched any anime containing Suzumiya Haruhi, you should watch this. Strongly recommended if you want a good laugh.
Death Note
- Spoiler:
Death Note is definitely one of the best anime series of all time, for it presents a deeply unique and compelling story rivaled by few. The story is unique. A notebook falls from the sky, and the human who writes a name in it is capable of killing the individual pictured in his mind (I left out the details that you don't care about). This presents the viewers with a highly debatable theme based on morals and justice.
Trigun
- Spoiler:
A recommendation by Tatsumaki
Trigun is another one of my "must see in your anime career" shows. The easiest way to explain why I believe this can be summed up by one name: Vash. Vash the Stampede is arguably one of the coolest, toughest, and funniest characters ever created. He's everyone's favorite superhero (even though he demolishes everything he gets close to). Vash brings forth something that I think everyone has a little in themselves, compassion. If Vash had a middle name, it would be Compassion.
Pokémon: Arceus and the Jewel of Life (movie)
- Spoiler:
A recommendation by Word
Runtime : 1:30hr
Aired : Jul 18, 2009
Rating : PG - Children
Basicly the betrayal of strongest Pokémon you could ever betray. This enrages it, of course and trouble arises. Our regular heroes go to save the day alongside two new antagonists. The 12th Pokémon movie and long awaited airing in Japan came alongside multiple events for your actual game such as a legit copy of Arceus, and is probably the best Pokémon movie as of yet.
True Tears
- Spoiler:
A well animated drama series. It's mainly about troubles in love triangles, step parents and jealousy. This leads to dramatic scenes and a lot of tears. A regular boy going to high school lives together with a girl that lost her parents when she was younger, they however don't go too well together. This, of course, leads to changes in character development and the plot twists. Quite a nice animé if you can stick to it, recommended if you like some drama.
Hellsing
- Spoiler:
Extreme graphics warning
Hellsing follows the antiheroic vampire, Alucard, and a police girl-turned-vampire, Seras Victoria, two vampires employed by the vampire-extermination group of England, the Hellsing Organization. Slowly but surely, through their active duty, they find a new breed of vampires beginning to arise.
To LOVEru
- Spoiler:
The story is about Rito Yuuki, a high-school boy who cannot confess to the girl of his dreams, Haruna Sairenji. One day when coming home and sulking in the bath-tub a mysterious, nude girl, appears out of nowhere. Her name is Lala and she comes from the planet Deviluke, where she is the heir to the throne. Her father wants her to return to her home planet so she can marry one of the husband candidates, but she decides that she wants to marry Rito in order to stay on Earth.
Yu Yu Hakusho : Ghost Files
- Spoiler:
As I was expecting another typical DBZ clone that was heavy on action but light on the plot and character development. Amazingly what I discovered was the first shounen action anime that was ever able to hold my attention for over 100 episodes. Despite the length of the series and the now-familiar superpowered junior high school student cliché, Yu Yu Hakusho manages to deliver original material for each episode.
Angel Beats!
- Spoiler:
Airing
In a world after death, angels fight for their fate and their future. Yuri, the leader of the Shinda Sekai Sensen, rebels against the god who destined her to have an unreasonable life. On the otherhand, Tenshi, the chairperson of the student council for the world after death, battles against the SSS members. SSS members utilize armed weaponry to battle it out against the angels harnessing supernatural powers.
To Heart
- Spoiler:
Adapted from a dating sim game of the same name. Hiroyuki Fujita and Akari Kamigishi are friends since childhood. With both of them are in the same class in high school, their love towards each other begin to accumulate, slowly but day by day. However there are many cute girls around....
Myself; Yourself
- Spoiler:
Myself; Yourself is another school life romance-drama animé where the protagonist left the town in his childhood and returns a couple of years after. He, however, does not recognize the girl that had a crush on him ever since they were kids. They, of course, meet up at the same school, in the same class. He ruins it by saying 'Nice to meet you' and has to rebuild everything from there of on. He does not know that several events occured during his absence.
Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahō
- Spoiler:
YWGM (Yes I'm lazy..) is an animé that's all about magic. Wizards, mages and computers. Basicly, all you do is fight crime, the main character fights against crime but is against violence, like all stereotypical innocent girls. Her partner rather is a bit more violent and a bit more adult, too.. Anyway, the animé is very nicely drawn and deserves a fair chance, I personally thought it was nice.
Soul Eater
- Spoiler:
A recommendation by Amarel
Set in the Shinigami technical school for weapon meisters, the series revolves around 3 groups of each a weapon meister and a human weapon. Trying to make the latter a "Death Scythe" and thus fit for use by the Shinigami, they must collect the souls of 99 evil humans and 1 witch.

Re: Anime List
Is this guild for anime-watchers only?! I must say, I do not watch anime, and do not really have an interest either. Maybe something will change that. What would be a good series for a first time viewer? I have watched, and enjoyed I might add, the Miyazaki films (Nausicaa being my favorite), but I haven't gotten much further into any anime.

I wasn't a anime watcher too, but when TFLYFF went down( the DB problem ), and I was checking in the forums all day, all of a sudden Yuuko typed some awesome links in there, included : www.animefreak.tv . From that time I start watching One Piece, cause I've heard alot about it but never knew where I could find those series and stuff. Honestly I really like it, in the beginning u know the things they do but it get really really exciting and want to see more /ridi . That's how I got addicted to it. I'm currently watching Episode 30 from the 449, but don't let the 449' number scare u. U can quit whenever u want, but I get addicted to it, and I'm planning to watch'em all
To the point : I definitely recommend you watch One Piece from ( www.animefreak.tv )
ps : mods if i cant name that site, put some stars instead, then i will pm the site to the guy who want it.
